LMFA
UMR 5509 CNRS, Ecole Centrale Lyon, Univ. Lyon 1, INSA de Lyon
LMFA is a joint laboratory between CNRS, two engineering schools (Centrale Lyon and INSA Lyon), and Claude Bernard University (UCBL). It is also a member of the Institut Carnot Ingénierie@Lyon. Its main research activities deal with: turbulence and stability, turbo-machines, complex flows and acoustics. It is among the national leader laboratories in numerical simulation of complex flows: rotating flows, MHD, atmospheric flows, scalar mixing, effects of intermittency, wall-bounded flows, aeroacoustics, in turbulent transport of dispersed phase (bubbles and solid particles). Recently, research activities of LFMA on multi-phase flows have been reinforced by two experienced researchers who are involved in the present project: M. Gorokhovski (2006) and L. Méès (2008). In the AMO-COPS project, LMFA will mostly perform experiments and develop models in relation with simplified direct injection geometries (refractive index gradients effects and DNS calculations). The team will develop models for the scattering of inhomogeneous objects and for the description of surface waves.
