CORIA

UMR 6614, Normandie Université, CNRS, Université de Rouen

CORIA (Complexe de Recherche Interprofessionnel en Aérothermochimie) is a joint research laboratory (UMR or Unité Mixte de Recherche) between the French Research National Center (CNRS), the University of Rouen, and a school of engineering (INSA de Rouen). The research domains of the lab cover fundamental and applied studies on reactive and non-reactive flows: multiphase (liquid/gas) flows, turbulent mixing, combustion, etc. A large effort is devoted to the development of innovative optical diagnostics. A long tradition of collaborations exists between CORIA and French industrial groups (automotive industry, aeronautics and energy), with other French institutions (CEA, IFPEN, IRSN, CNES, ONERA, etc.) and with local structures for technological transfer (CERTAM and CEVAA, located in the same site). The lab is involved in many international (European or bilateral) programs.

The laboratory is a member of competitiveness clusters: Movéo, related to the automotive sector, and AsTech, related to the aeronautical sector.  CORIA houses the headquarters of the Institut Carnot ESP (Energy and Propulsion Systems). Since 2011, it is a member of the “laboratory of excellence” (LabEx) EMC3 (Energy Materials and Clean Combustion Center). It was classified as laboratory A + (best rank) by the AERES (Official French agency to evaluate the research). Because many activities are in relation with optical diagnostics, CORIA is willing to share its knowledge in numerical simulations and its experimental skills in the framework of the present project.
